Why Do People Wear Watches On Their Left Wrist?

I have noticed something oddly consistent about people around me. Whether it's in a crowded place like a classroom, office, or at a bus stop, I noticed that most people wear their wrist watches on their left wrist instead of their right. While growing up, mostly as a teenager, going to church or an event, I'm told to wear my watch on my left wrist all the time. And when I ask why, they tell me because it makes me look presentable/respected or that how it has been. But it still didn't make sense to me and I wondered: was it just a random habit, a fashion trend that stuck or was there an actual reason behind it? I did my research and here are the things I found out.  First, it all starts with your dominant hand. Most people are right-handed and because of that, their right hand does almost everything.
